SOCOTRA: LOST IN TIME, DRESSED BY THE FUTURE

Chelsea found herself in a place that looks like a scene from a sci-fi movie, but without green screens and special effects.

Wind, sand, and the feeling of another planet
Socotra is not a destination for all-inclusive lovers. If you enjoy poolside cocktails and Wi-Fi that doesn’t disappear—sorry, this isn’t your place. The wind is so strong it could permanently change your hairstyle. Sand is everywhere—in your shoes, in your soul, probably in your future memories. And the dragon blood trees? They look like a video game designer got a little too carried away with the "overdo the details" button.

Chelsea, a modern nomad, traveler, and storyteller, embarked on this expedition wearing DEMOBAZA. Were the clothes made for this alien terrain, or did fate simply know what it was doing? Either way, the combination turned out to be perfect.

"Everything you see here has been shaped by nature," she writes on Instagram. The winds are so fierce that the island literally says "no" to visitors from May to October. A semi-arid climate, rain only if you’re lucky (or karmically indebted), and when it does rain—it’s like the landscape is instantly reborn.

The isolation makes this place even more special—a world where you have nothing but your own thoughts and the occasional passing scorpion.

Getting to Socotra? At least as complicated as finding an exit in the Tokyo metro without GPS. The only way is via special flights from Yemen or the UAE. Luxury hotels with infinity pools? Forget it. Here, it’s all about camping or small guesthouses where hot water is a luxury, but the view makes up for every inconvenience.

"To be in places, mostly untouched by human hands, is like returning to your primal essence," says Chelsea. It sounds like something a yoga instructor would whisper in your ear while you’re in lotus pose. DEMOBAZA has always been an adventure—not just clothing, but a way of life where comfort is not to be overlooked despite the extravagant nomadic aesthetic. Apparel for those who seek the unexpected, who dare to step beyond the ordinary.

So, if you want to escape and get lost in the middle of nowhere, and discover something real—Socotra is waiting. Just wear clothes that will survive, because this island doesn’t play around.
