SPOTTED: Kat Von D go to Europe wearing DEMOBAZA

The Mexican-born American tattoo artist, TV personality and singer announces a string of tour dates in Europe this June while wearing a bodysuit from the brand’s SS 22 Starseed collection.

She likes to dress in black.
Her tattoo brand is called High Voltage. Since breaking out in the TLC reality TV show LA Ink in 2007, Kat Von D has been an illustrious force on the alternative scene. And while her music videos feature her wearing predominantly latex, she has been spotted wearing DEMOBAZA‘s advanced post-apocalyptic wear multiple times on official and private engagements in recent years.

After selling her shared in the vegan and cruelty-free beauty brand Kat Von D Beauty (renamed KVD Vegan Beauty), Katherine von Drachenberg released her first single Exorcism, followed by the EP debut Love Made Me Do It. Three years later, her second studio album, My Side of the Mountain, was released.

While many critics and detractors might expect that music is just an extension of her business empire, Kat Von D is just following her multiple talents: classically trained in piano from an early age, Katherine combined the nurturing of her grandmother with the culture of her upbringing in California a heavily-nuanced and Misfits/Ramones teen rebellion and keen interest in music and tattoo art.

After the initial success of her TV show, Kat Von D managed to publish her first book in 2009: not an autobiography, but more of an album with her artworks and tattoos. Speaking of that endeavor, how many people can boast that Mötley Crüe's Nikki Sixx has written the foreword to their NEW York Times bestseller?

One more book, a gallery and a pretty busy High Voltage Tattoo Studio were obviously not enough, as Kat Vod D decided on a career as a recording artist. After working on-and-off on an music project for close to a decade and providing vocals for a Finnish gothic rock band and the electronic duo Prayers (who will be the special guests of her forthcoming European tour), she was ready to struck on her own.

Released on September the 20th, 2024, Kat Von D’s latest LP My Side of The Mountain is a powerful mélange of alternative dance pop, goth, new wave, post-punk and synthwave, that works well not only on her packed gigs, but as a background or her visually stunning goth world, as featured in her many videos here and everywhere. Feeling a close connection to the themes of isolation and escapism in her main inspiration, a Jean Craighead George's 1959 novel of the same name, Kat Von D has put her energetic and highly stylized in a poignant record about discovering yourself in self-reliance.

Working with movie director Ryan Valdez for several of the accompanying videos, Kat Von D has proven herself once again on top of her game, while not bending a knee to record labels and just doing what she has perfecting in the last close to twenty years: channeling her wild talents and putting her stamp on our skin and in our mind.

Deciding on wearing DEMOBAZA’s Starseed body on the poster for her forthcoming tour is telling. Kat Von D has attended the brand’s last two ready-to-wear shows in Los Angeles, so don’t be surprised if she slays the European continent in DEMOBAZA this June.
