The American megastar performed in our Spring-Summer 2023 collection Dimension boots before accepting MTV’s Video Vanguard Award for her long career of breaking boundaries and bringing the visual side of music one giant leap forward at a time.
There’s something about DEMOBAZA boots that resonates with popstars all over the world. Just five months after Ludmilla went to the Source for her Glastonbury performance, another key artist of the pop establishment chose to wear DEMOBAZA on a very special occasion.
Before accepting the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the 2024 MTV VMAs, Katy Perry made one of the most memorable live performances in recent years, rivaling previous winners and even her boldest videos. The dazzling spectacle began with Perry levitating (ok, floating high above the stage while suspended on wires) while wearing DEMOBAZA’s limited edition Dimension long boots (retailing for €1155) – a retro-futuristic, highly detailed model from the Spring-Summer 2023 collection, that stands out with its vintage washed effect, zipper closing, heavy cotton construction and a hidden 50 mm heel platform.
Performing a 10-song medley that included her hits California Gurls, Dark Horse, Firework, Roar, E.T., her break out single I Kissed a Girl, new song I'm His, He's Mine (feat. Doechii) and more, Perry paired the Dimension long boots with a space-themed custom bodysuit to reflect the extra-terrestrial direction of her VMA show. Flanked but dozens of dancers in a tight choreography, Perry wore the boots for the whole duration of the performance.
If you watch closely, you will notice that Perry’s not only flying and dancing, but sliding a lot around during her meticulous performance. The singer chose a model that has been crafted with a thermal rubber sole for additional support and steady grip – just the right proportion to allow her move freely across the multiple stages at UBS Arena in Long Island, New York City.
After the memorable performance, Perry was presented with the award by her partner Orlando Bloom while still in costume with the Dimension boots. The Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award is a lifetime achievement award given to recording artists and music video directors at the MTV Video Music Awards. Previous winners include Shakira, Niki Minaj, Beyoncé, Madonna, Rihanna, Missy Elliott, Britney Spears and many more.
This might not be Perry sole appearance in DEMOBAZA. After giving birth to her daughter Daisy and releasing Smile in 2000, the American singer has recently returned with new singles Woman’s World and Lifetimes from her forthcoming album 143, out on September 20.
